The Lanier Striper Club was formed in 2000.
Its 50 plus members are dedicated to promoting
fellowship, conservation and education
among Lake Sidney Lanier Striped Bass
Anglers. The Club meets the first Tuesday
 of every month
at the Dam store on Buford Dam Road and
has a monthly fishing outing the first
 Saturday of the
 month (following the Tuesday meeting).
Committed to being “Green,” in 2008, th
e Lanier Striper Club saved 3,000 pounds
of fish – fish caught are always put back into the lake
whenever possible.

The Lanier Striper Club brings in professional guest speakers at monthly meetings
who cover a variety of topics – no matter if you are a beginner, intermediate
or advanced fisherman. The Club works closely with the Department of Natural
Resources on increasing the amount of fish in Lake Lanier. They also support th
e Corps of Engineers on keeping the lake safe and productive now and in the future.

Here are Minutes from our March meeting:

LANIER STRIPER CLUB, LLC.
MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 2, 2010

* The March meeting of the Lanier Striper
 Club was held
 at the Dam Store.
Buck Cannon opened the meeting with a prayer.

* Dan Saknini and Joe Kuhr presented Mrs.
 Dover with
 cookies and a
gratuity of our appreciation.

* Daren Crump joined as a new member.

* At the February tournament, Fernando
 and David caught
 the 2nd place fish

in shallow water. Fernando caught a 29" long
 fish and Don
 Brown had the 1st
place winning fish at 31", caught near the end
 of the
tournament by trolling
umbrella rigs at 70' and 100'. The fish hit
 the shorter
 umbrella rig.

* Elections are in two months if you are
 interested.

* Our guest speaker was Mack Farr, he
 shared the
 following techniques:
o Start early; cast like a mad man, and
 quit early.
o This year the water has been colder
 and more
 stained than in the past.
o Captain Farr has been casting a jig
 in areas and
 pockets in the back of
creeks.
o Use a small jig, quickly retrieved;
 10lb test
 and ¼ inch bucktail with
trailer at Four Mile, Bald Ridge and most
 anywhere on
 the lake to catch fish.
o He also uses a Schrounger; it is
a lead head
 with a fluke attached to
it, made by Lucky Strike.
o Lucky Craft Ghost Minnon 78 and
 Rooster Tails
 can be effective this time
of year.
o Mack also spoke on Umbrella
 Rigs.
o Mack felt Red Fins were the
 strongest in
April through May when it is 63
degrees up to 73. Throw Red Fin in,
 drag it back
on top of water, not jerky;
but slow.
o Thread fin; 3/16" net is the
 best size for
 catching stripers.

* Next meeting is April 6th at
 6:30 @ the
 Dam Store.
